In the early 17th century, English colonists, having received a license from King James I, established a colony in Virginia. In May 1607, build a fort named Jamestown was in the Chesapeake Bay. The main income of the new colony was the production of tobacco. The colonists acquired a group of African slaves. From this moment, the history of slavery in America began.
